Very impressed with the detailed colour charts Winsor & Newton have on their site, displaying chemical descriptions amongst other things for each of their Artist's Colours. How the world has changed since art school and the reliance on publications like "The Artist's Manual", where would we be without them.

Ordered box of goodies online to save cash, can't believe the price local shops are selling art materials for. So used to shopping around on ebay but this time found a number of places in London with fine online facilities and helpful staff at the end of a phone. Best all rounder is the following place by a long shot.

I'm actually looking for something more supernatural in heaven but as far as art materials go I couldn't find anywhere cheaper and more helpful than C&W's version on earth. Maybe for specialist accessories one would look elsewhere.

The Perch, Oxford Artweeks 2012

Did a reccy on The Perch in Binsey to look at space last week after previously being invited by Johnny (landlord) to take part for most of May, all 3 of Oxford Artweeks: beautiful place on the banks of the Thames across Port Meadow from Jericho through cows, geese and horses and over rickety wooden bridges.

Chinese Art in the 1900s

Viewed the exhibition of 1900s Chinese art at the Ashmolean earlier, some tremendous skills being displayed in the freehand brush work but near hilarious totalitarian exhibitionism of the woodblocks made me cringe, too many joyous faces sweating away in the sunshine of communist love. But then this is the nature of promotional graphic art, always subservient to the patron or client regardless of what political system it's designed for.
